George gives back to needy learners

A local benefactor has donated sanitary pads and school shoes to learners in the Mohlaba area for the second year in a row.

On Friday, January 20, George Phakula, accompanied by his family, donated school uniforms including trousers, shirts, socks, shoes and sanitary pads to over 100
learners in four schools. In December last year, Phakula and his friends ran from Mokopane to Muhlaba with the aim to raise funds for the initiative.
After noticing a number of school children going to school without shoes or wearing worn-out shoes, he decided to do something about it.

“I’m hoping to make a difference in the lives of the youngsters. “It’s not much, but I hope that the donation will help to get children to go to school.
I believe that every child deserves a good education and by this, I’m trying to show them that education has the power to break the chains of poverty,” he explained.
He thanked everyone who contributed towards the project and hopes they will continue to support the initiative going forward
