Mpheni defeats our Happy Boys

The match started off in favour of Giyani Happy Boys.

Their strikers looked promising as they constantly breached the visitor’s defence in search for goals during the first few minutes in the game. This created undue pressure on the visiting team resulting in them conceding a penalty which the Giyani Happy Boys missed. This was a mistake that cost them the game as it did not only dampen their fighting spirit, but also sent a wake-up call to their opponents that the match was up for grabs.

A moment later, Giyani Happy Boys conceded a free-kick. Unlike the Giyani Happy Boys who failed to convert their penalty shot, Mpheni Home Defenders’ striker, Nyembezi Setelele, took it straight into the net. This changed the score board from 0-0 to 1-0 against Giyani Happy Boys just few minutes into the game. It also put more pressure on Giyani Happy Boys as the visitors became even more motivated and vigorously pushed for a second goal.

This however, did not happen until after they went into the second half when the visitors scored four more goals to make it 5-0 against the host team. The Giyani Happy Boys’ coach might need to work on his team’s backline because in many instances they appeared to leave the poor goalkeeper alone to fend off attacks; hence they conceded more goals despite their outstanding performance in the match.

Nonetheless, they managed to score a consolation goal just minutes before the referee blew the final whistle. The score therefore ended 5-1 against Giyani Happy Boys. This has set them four points behind Mpheni Home Defenders in the ABC Motsepe Stream-A league. Before the match they were just one point behind, now they have to work even harder to catch up or to topple Mpheni Home Defenders from their first position in the league.
