Wine tasting a success at Fairview Hotel

Close to 30 wine enthusiasts gathered at Fairview Hotel in Tzaneen on September 15 for the monthly MooiZicht Wine Club evening for a pizza and wine pairing.

As guests sipped on their welcome drinks, Pinot Noir Chardonnay, premium wines account executive at DGB Amanda Smit explained: “Our hero brands, like Old Road Wine Company, are unique and tell the stories of the Cape Winelands, bringing the best of South African wine from vine to glass.”

Smit led the wine tasting and pairing and encouraged guests to taste the wines with each pizza prepared by chef Brenda Lubbe. Blue cheese margarita pizza was paired with Juliette Sauvignon Blanc and a pepperoni pizza was paired with a glass of Elgin Pinot Noir.

A sweet chilli chicken pizza complemented The Fat Man Pinotage well and the Spotted Hound red blend was paired with a fillet pizza. Lastly, the bubbles, a Gorgeous MCC was paired with a chocolate and berry marshmallow dessert pizza.
