Xitsonga Music Awards promises fun-filled glitz and glamour

It will be all glitz and glamour at the upcoming Xitsonga Music Awards on Saturday, November 4.

The annual event, hosted by the Mughana Lonene FM, will once again be presented at Nkowankowa Stadium. The festivities have already started with the radio station doing activation events all over the country. The 18th edition of the awards will have a bigger and more entertaining lineup, with artists such as Makhadzi, King Monada, Dr Thomas Chauke, Penny Penny, Dr Colbert Mukwevho and many other great artists.

Matimu ‘vuvu’ Masilane, Rose Tshabalala (ML FM’s acting programmes
manager), Malwandla Maluleke of Malwandla Lifestyle Events and
Catering, Divine Makhubele of Thedivinestyle and Moses Mohale.

On Friday, November 3, there will be a gala dinner hosted for stakeholders. The annual event is a partnership between the organisers of the festival and the Greater Tzaneen Municipality. Last year, gospel star, Themba Nyathi was the biggest winner; his song ‘akuna tlhari’ was named the Best Xitsonga Popular Song of the Year.

Other winners on the day included Oscar Makumu who won the Best Xitsonga Album and Dr Sophie who took home two awards, Best Xitsonga Newcomer and Best Xitsonga Female. Tickets are available on Ticketpro, general access is R120 and VIP access costs R370. The gates will open at 14:00 until late.
