Robbers target schools in Letsitele area

Police have launched a manhunt to find a group of suspects who robbed three schools in the Letsitele area last week.

The suspects allegedly made off with valuable items worth thousands of rands. In the first incident, two security guards at a school were on duty patrolling the premises when they noticed three armed men. “The men instructed them to lie down and tied their hands and legs.

They entered the school office and stole computers, laptops, and cellphones,” said Col Malesela Ledwaba, provincial spokesperson. In the second incident in Robeni village in the early hours of Tuesday, a security officer in the school’s guard room was approached by three men. One of the men pointed a firearm at him.

They tied up his hands and legs and instructed the guard to show them where the safe was kept. “He directed them to the admin block. They broke the burglar door, and entered the room where the safe was kept and stole tablets, cellphones, servers, laptops, data projectors, and soccer boots.

In the last incident in Nwajaheni, a security guard noticed four armed men in the early hours of Wednesday, May 1 at the school. The same modus operandi was followed.
