Hotel school and new hotel to open soon in Tzaneen

It is official, the Letaba TVET College, will now, not only brag with a hotel school, but also a hotel which guests can enjoy.

This was confirmed by Godfrey Mabasa, college spokesperson. He told the Herald that the process is in an advanced stage and the plan is for the school to be up and running by next year. The school is located at Circle Drive, in Arbor Park. “We will have a hospitality centre, where students will be trained to become professional chefs.” The institution will also give training on how to successfully run tourism establishments.

The building is funded by Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA). Mabasa, says security personnel and cleaners are already hard a work at the facility. What still needs to be done as far as the building, is the installation of kitchen cabinets and stoves and other equipment needed to successfully run the school. The assistant director of the college’s business unit, Clement Nkuna, will be facilitating the training process.

Meanwhile, the acting principal, Benjamin Moshoma, says a facility like this is needed in the Tzaneen area. “We want to train more chefs, who will go and work at local hotels and tourism establishments. The institution, will contribute greatly to the local tourism industry and economy. “The hotel which will be owned by the college, is on the same premises, and it will also give employment opportunities to students after training,” he concluded.
