Police noise angers Arbor Park residents

Residents in Tzaneen plagued by loud noise and drunkenness from police officers at Arbor Park Lodge, sparking concerns over officers' conduct.

TZANEEN – The peaceful neighbourhood of Arbor Park has had to deal with loud noise and music coming from the Arbor Park Lodge in Geelhout Street said to be caused by police officers staying at the lodge.

A resident wrote to the Herald complaining about the noise. “It is so noisy every night and over weekends, we cannot rest.”

The resident accuses police of being intoxicated and hosting friends in their quarters. “Three weeks ago, a police siren went off and rang for a long time. Are these the people who are supposed to protect us?” the resident asked.

Herald contacted Sarie Vermaak, owner of Arbor Park Lodge about the allegations.

She said a notice for zero tolerance of loud noise has been issued to the guests.

“We at Tzaneen Arbor Park Lodge sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the recent behaviour of some of our guests. We recognise the impact this may have had on the surrounding community,” said Vermaak.

“Upon learning of these issues, we have implemented additional measures to manage noise levels more effectively and ensure a pleasant environment for all,” she said.

Herald reached out to SAPS district communication officer, Const Khomotso Roseline Hlokwe, for comment.
