Tzaneen community unites for diabetes awareness
The Letaba Tzaneen Lions Club hosted a diabetes awareness campaign, screening 426 people and promoting early detection and prevention.
TZANEEN – The Letaba Tzaneen Lions Club, in collaboration with local businesses, volunteers, and medical professionals, organised a diabetes awareness campaign at the Tzaneen Lifestyle Centre on Saturday morning.
The campaign was part of Diabetes Awareness Month in South Africa, which aims to educate the public on diabetes prevention, detection, symptoms, and proper treatment.
During the event, volunteers and local nurses screened 426 people of all ages for diabetes by testing their blood sugar levels. The Lions mascot added a fun element to the campaign, encouraging shoppers to participate in the screenings.

Kate Coppen, president of the Letaba Tzaneen Lions Club, expressed gratitude for the community’s support.
“Thank you for your support, we screened 426 people and raised awareness by promoting early detection,” she said.
