The successful Netball and Soccer Tournament in Tzaneen brought together local teams and promoted community development through sports.

TZANEEN – PGN Civils hosted the inaugural Burgerdorp Netball and Soccer Tournament at Burgersdorp Stadium on Saturday, December 7, as part of their corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at giving back to the community.

The company, which specialises in mining, plant hire, and civil engineering, organised the event for local teams from the villages in the Tzaneen area.

In the soccer categories, Gavaza Stone Breakers emerged victorious in the u/16 division, while Themba Football Tournament claimed the top spot in the u/19 division. In netball, Movers won the u/16 category and Pharare Netball Team triumphed in the u/19 category.

Each winning team received a cash prize of R8 000, along with trophies and medals.

Bongi Mpenyana from PGN Civils expressed satisfaction with the event’s success. “We are happy with how the games unfolded, and it was a successful day,” he said.

Mpenyana emphasised the importance of community investment, stating, “We believe that investing in our community is essential to building strong relationships, promoting social and economic development, and creating a positive impact on the lives of those around us. By continually giving back to the community, we demonstrate our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen and to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.”
