Tshinya wa Vantshwa has gained a massive following on social media for his business of catching and selling termites, a local delicacy.

LIMPOPO – Tshinya wa Vantshwa, from Mageva village near Giyani, has become a social media sensation, gaining over 100 000 Facebook followers and 90 000 TikTok fans through his videos showcasing his entrepreneurial journey.

Tshinya specialises in catching and selling termites, a prized local delicacy, which he delivers across Giyani and its surrounding areas, as well as via courier to other parts of South Africa.

His business, which sells termites in quantities ranging from 1kg to 20kg, has grown so much that he now employs a team to meet the demand.

In addition to the termite business, Tshinya also runs a firewood supply venture and owns a hair salon.

Sharing his philosophy, he said, “Nature has so much wealth to give us, and I’m using that to my advantage. The soil below us and the bush are rich with raw resources, and people need to make that work for them.”
