All Tzaneen learners successfully placed for 2025

All Tzaneen learners have secured school placements for 2025, easing parents’ concerns. The education department has also arranged transport support.

TZANEEN – Parents and learners in Tzaneen can breathe a sigh of relief as all learners who previously struggled to find school placements have now been allocated spaces, the Limpopo Department of Education confirmed to the Herald.

The department expressed satisfaction with the completion of the 2025 school placement process, which had been delayed due to overcrowding in local schools.

Since the start of the school year, numerous Gr R, 1, and 8 learners remained unplaced, raising concerns among parents and educators. According to Tzaneen circuit manager Felix Nomvela, popular schools such as Merensky Agricultural Academy, Ben Vorster High School, and Tzaneen Primary School had reached full capacity early in the admission period.

Nomvela urged parents to consider alternative institutions, highlighting that Tzaneen High School and Lowveld Academy still had spaces for Gr 8 and 9.

“The department worked diligently to address the backlog of unplaced learners and extends its gratitude to parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation,” the department said in a statement. “We also commend the educators and staff whose tireless efforts ensured a smooth admission process.”

To assist families, the department announced that transport arrangements will be provided for learners placed at schools beyond a five-kilometre radius of their homes. “Our commitment remains steadfast in ensuring every learner receives quality education and support,” the statement concluded.

While the placement issue appears resolved, some parents have voiced concerns over transportation logistics and the distances learners must travel. Municipal and education officials have assured ongoing engagement to address these challenges.
