Bolobedu campus attack: Suspects in court

Two suspects linked to the rape and robbery of TVET students appeared in Kgapane court; the case is postponed to April.

LIMPOPO – Two male suspects arrested in connection with the rape and robbery of female students in Phaphadi Village made a brief appearance at the Kgapane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 25 March 2025.

Ntsako Mathebula (18) and Tiza Mamatlepa (24) are accused of being involved in a violent incident that occurred at a student residence affiliated with a local TVET college in February.

Mathebula faces four counts of rape and house robbery, while Mamatlepa has been charged with possession of suspected stolen property, namely one of the victim’s cellphones. The suspects were arrested on 11 March 2025 in separate police operations, during which officers recovered some of the stolen items.

The pair are due to reappear in court on April 1 for another bail application. Police investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
