Mopani TVET starts research unit
The new research unit at the Phalaborwa Campus is set to boost academic growth and tackle inequality, poverty, and unemployment.
LIMPOPO – Mopani TVET College marked a significant milestone with the launch of its new research unit at the Phalaborwa Campus on Monday, March 17.
This cutting-edge initiative is set to enhance research within the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector, fostering academic growth and addressing societal challenges.
The establishment of the unit aligns with the college’s core values and the pressing needs of society, ensuring that sustainability imperatives are met. Additionally, it aims to conduct research in alignment with the Department of Higher Education and Training’s (DHET) research agenda, contributing to the development of knowledge that will benefit both students and the broader community.

Representing the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Clarence Tshitereke delivered a keynote address in support of the initiative.
He emphasised the crucial role the research unit will play in addressing the government’s three strategic priorities, inequality, unemployment, and poverty.
Furthermore, Tshitereke highlighted that the research programme will enhance academic competence, ultimately facilitating access to higher National Qualifications Framework (NQF) levels.
