MPAC monitors key service projects in Ba-Phalaborwa

MPAC conducts site visits to inspect key service delivery projects, ensuring accountability and progress on vital infrastructure upgrades.

LIMPOPO – The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) of Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality recently conducted a series of site visits to inspect several key service delivery projects currently underway in the area.

The oversight initiative forms part of MPAC’s quarterly monitoring programme aimed at promoting accountability and ensuring effective implementation of infrastructure developments across the municipality.

The committee visited multiple sites, including the road upgrade from Aubrey Car Wash to Kanana.

This project involves transforming a gravel road into a paved surface using interlocking concrete bricks, a move expected to significantly improve accessibility and long-term durability.

Another project inspected was the road upgrade between Honeyville and Sebera. Like the Aubrey-Kanana development, it focuses on converting gravel roads into paved surfaces, thereby enhancing connectivity and ease of transport for residents in both communities.

At the Tension Pilusa Graveyard, MPAC assessed the installation of a precast stormwater culvert.

This critical infrastructure aims to improve drainage in the area and prevent waterlogging, contributing to a more dignified and functional graveyard environment.

The committee also reviewed progress on the second phase of the Benfarm Road upgrade. The project is intended to further improve road conditions, benefitting both local residents and businesses by facilitating smoother transportation and better access.

Following the site inspections, MPAC chairperson Cllr Petrus Mukhari expressed satisfaction with the developments observed. “So far, we are pleased with the work being done on these vital projects. It is encouraging to see that they are on the right track to be completed within the agreed timelines,” he said.

The MPAC’s continued oversight plays a vital role in ensuring transparency and efficiency in the municipality’s service delivery efforts. Through regular monitoring visits, the committee aims to identify challenges early and ensure that infrastructure projects are completed effectively and in the best interest of the Ba-Phalaborwa community.
