Hoveni crime spree: Police follow lead on suspect

Following the violent attacks just outside Tzaneen, police are investigating a tip-off naming a suspect and have recovered valuables in nearby Calais.

TZANEEN – After the terrifying events that happened at Hoveni village outside Tzaneen between the night of Friday, May 9 and early hours of Saturday, May 10, police have something to go by for their investigations.

Through a tip-off, they were told of a name, Junior Ndlovu, who might have a lead in assisting them in identifying the suspects.

According to police reports, the suspects went on a heinous crime spree between 23:30 on Friday and 02:00 on Saturday, targeting seven families in the same neighbourhood in what seems to be a planned and deliberate series of assaults.

The suspects, armed with firearms, forcibly entered homes by breaking down doors, demanding money and valuables from victims, committing serious violent crimes, including multiple counts of rape involving minors.
