Meridian learners shine in mathematics olympiad

Teacher, Freedom Shikwambana, expressed immense pride at seeing two of his learners ranked among the top 15 in the Limpopo province.

PHALABORWA – Phalaborwa is celebrating the success of two learners who excelled at the mathematics olympiad finals, competing against top students from districts across Limpopo.

Gr 7 learner Alexandria Meth earned a gold medal and secured fifth place overall, while Gr 6 learner Angel Munyai won a bronze medal, placing 13th overall.

Their mathematics teacher, Freedom Shikwambana, expressed immense pride at seeing two of his learners ranked among the top 15 in the province.

“The mathematics olympiad is one of the toughest competitions in the country, making this accomplishment a true reflection of the high standard of mathematics at Meridian,” he told the Herald.

Shikwambana described the achievement as a powerful testament to the learners’ hard work, his dedication as a teacher, and the school’s strong commitment to academic excellence.
