Maruleng mayor donates wheelchairs to empower residents

Maruleng Mayor Tsheko Musolwa handed over five wheelchairs to disabled residents from local villages, promoting dignity and independence.

HOEDSPRUIT – In a heartwarming gesture aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents living with disabilities, Maruleng Local Municipality Mayor Tsheko Musolwa handed five wheelchairs to beneficiaries on Wednesday, October 8.

The initiative, which forms part of the municipality’s ongoing commitment to support vulnerable groups, brought smiles and a renewed sense of independence to the recipients.

Among those who received wheelchairs were two residents from The Willows Village, one from Botshabelo, and two others from Metz and The Oaks, respectively.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Musolwa highlighted the significance of empowering people living with disabilities to live with dignity and freedom.

“A wheelchair is not just a mobility aid; it is a tool of independence and access. It allows our residents to move freely, engage with others, and participate fully in the life of our community,” he said.

“This initiative is part of our broader vision to improve the living conditions of our people and ensure that no one is left behind,” added Musolwa.

The beneficiaries and their families expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the wheelchairs would greatly improve mobility and reduce their daily struggles.
