Duiwelskloof biokineticist inspires with wellness journey

Duiwelskloof biokineticist Ruëtte Schoeman is helping people stay active and healthy through her growing wellness practice.

LIMPOPO – Duiwelskloof-born biokineticist and entrepreneur, Ruëtte Schoeman, is fast becoming a recognised name in local wellness circles as she combines science, movement, and compassion to change lives.

After matriculating from Merensky Agricultural Academy in 2019, she pursued a BSc in Biokinetics at North-West University in Potchefstroom, graduating cum laude in 2023. In 2025, she expanded her qualifications by completing a mat and barre pilates course through Trifocus Academy.

As the youngest of four sisters, Schoeman grew up in a lively, competitive, and active home, something she believes shaped her love for movement.

Her passion for biokinetics was born in high school, where a series of injuries opened her eyes to the power of exercise in recovery, performance, and overall well-being.

“Seeing how exercise changed my own life made me want to help others experience the same benefits,” she explains.

Building a wellness practice from scratch

Launching her own practice along with a pilates and wellness studio has been both rewarding and challenging. As a young entrepreneur, she has had to build her brand from scratch without a mentor to guide her.

“I want everyone to feel supported and included, no matter their age or fitness level,” she says.

Schoeman is also passionate about helping people stay healthy during travel or the festive season, when routines often slip.

For long trips, she recommends movement breaks, posture support, hydration, and simple stretches such as neck rolls, spinal twists, ankle circles, and hip-flexor stretches.

During busy holiday periods, she encourages simple, realistic activities: family walks, quick bodyweight routines, or using resistance bands while travelling.

Finding joy in clients’ transformations

What motivates her most is witnessing transformation.

From athletes returning to sport to older adults regaining independence, she finds joy in every milestone.

“The small wins matter just as much as the big ones,” she says. “Watching someone’s mood lift, their pain decrease, and their quality of life improve day by day is incredibly fulfilling.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Schoeman aims to grow her business, expand her group classes, and host more community events.

Her mission is simple: to help more people feel stronger, move better, and experience how life-changing consistent physical activity can be.
