Phalaborwa salon staff help in community clean-up

Employees of a Phalaborwa salon closed shop for a day to repair potholes and clean streets, earning praise from local supporters.

PHALABORWA – Employees of The Nail and Beauty Room in Phalaborwa traded their nail files and polish for brooms and shovels as they took to the streets to help clean up the town.

On Tuesday, the salon temporarily closed its doors so staff could volunteer their time to improve their community.

The team focused on repairing potholes and cleaning the areas in front of Bougainvilla Frail Care and Kingfisher Private School.

The beauticians thanked Coastal Hire and Paint Pot for sponsoring equipment and supporting the initiative.

Kingfisher Private School also thanked the women for their selfless efforts. In a post on its Facebook page, the school praised the team for repairing the road behind the school, describing it as more like an obstacle course than a public road.

“Thank you for caring not only for our school, but for our whole community,” the post read.
