Hoedie athletes show their mettle at inter-high
Once a year the opportunity arises for Hoedspruit schools to come together for a friendly athletics meet, showing off the best each school has to offer.
This year the Hoedspruit InterHigh was hosted by Lowveld Academy Hoedspruit on February 8, with its sister school, Lowveld Academy Tzaneen, Southern Cross, and Hoedspruit High School all showing their mettle.
The event was held at Mariepskop Primary School in Kampersrus made their sports complex available. “Not only did our schools compete, but businesses from Hoedspruit and surrounds all contributed to the success of the day.

The event, attended by Edwin Mametja, representative of the department of education, showcased some extraordinary talents from each school with athletes outperforming the previous best of this annual event.
“A highlight of the day was the spirit trophy, awarded to the school that demonstrated the best sportsmanship, and winner’s trophy, both being awarded to Lowveld Academy Hoedspruit,” said Tilana Harding from Lowveld Academy.
The purpose of the event is to develop athletics for the children in the Hoedspruit community. The true stars shined bright with Southern Cross’s Duncan Mwale, and Kamogelo Molefe from Lowveld Academy Hoedspruit, taking the highest honours as victor and victrix
ludorum respectively.
