Dzumeri Masters humiliated on home turf
Dzumeri Masters Football Club was in action at the local soccer field in Mageva village on Sunday.
Unfortunately, the hosts suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of N’wamitwa Masters. The Nwamitwa Masters is a team from the neighbouring village which has been a thorn in the flesh for the Dzumeri team for a long time. The Dzumeri team may have hoped to get revenge this time since this match took place on their home turf. However, their chances were blown the moment Dzumeri Masters failed to get together in time to select the best team that would represent them well before the rival team arrived at the soccer field.
As a result, their team appeared disorganised right from the onset as the rival team easily scored three goals ten minutes into the first half. The embarrassment could have been worse, with substitutions made from the bench made just in time to prevent the hail of goals that were raining on them.

While all matches played by the masters’ teams are merely for entertainment and exercise purposes (most players are over fifty years of age), a loss at home to a rival team is not something an old player with friends and family cheering at the grandstand, would wish to experience. For the Dzumeri Masters, the damage is done and the team will have to wait for a return match to be played at their rival’s home turf in N’wamitwa village for a chance to regain their honour.
