Namakgale Boxing Show a thriller

The Namakgale Boxing Show was successfully hosted at the Foskor Community Centre last Saturday.

Various teams from Limpopo entered the event including Namakgale, Lulekani, University of Limpopo,
University of Venda, Shawela and Letaba Boxing clubs. A total of eighteen matches took place including threefemale and 15 male matches. Highlights included a match between Kgotlelelo Maponya and Christian Gumede (2022 Limpopo champion) which Gumede won.

Another thrilling match was between Namakgale Boxing Club’s fighter Eric ‘Hit’ Rasehashe and Lulekani Boxing Club’s
Sandile ‘Rocky’ Mathebula. Rocky won the fight by points. Organiser of the tournament, Marumo Letswalo, said he was pleased with how the event went.

“The boxers, team managers and boxing officials were committed to ensure maximum participation and fair play. “Parents, friends, local businesses and various other stakeholders were available to support and enjoy the event with us.
“I believe we will have a packed house at our next event in July,” he said.

Letswalo concluded by thanking coaches Lucas Baloyi and Amos Mokholoane, all stakeholders, sponsors, boxing clubs and everyone who supported the event. A similar event will take place again in July.
