Maruleng Celtics beat Black Leopards in ABC Motsepe League

Maruleng Celtics FC secured a victory over Black Leopards in the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League, marking an important step in their season recovery.

LIMPOPO – Maruleng Celtics FC secured a 2-1 victory over Black Leopards on Saturday at their home ground in Enable village, competing in the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League Stream A.

The win marks a significant improvement for the team, which has faced challenges following recent squad changes.

Coach Fire Mashele expressed satisfaction with his players’ progress, acknowledging the difficulties they had faced earlier in the season.

“Recently, the owner of Maruleng Celtics bought Mighty FC, and most of our senior players moved there. The younger players struggled to adapt, which led to some losses,” he said.

“I am happy to say that they are now more ready than ever for any team.”

Mashele said the Celtics dominated from the start during the match.

“In the first half, we created many chances and had strong ball possession, but we missed six clear opportunities to score. In the second half, we maintained our dominance and managed to score twice. Black Leopards pulled one back with just five minutes left.”

The Celtics currently sit ninth on the log, having played 11 matches, winning three, drawing three, and losing five.

Mashele remains optimistic about climbing higher in the standings. “Many of the top teams have slowed down, either losing matches or ending in draws. We still have a chance to move up,” he added.
