Acornhoek City triumphs in tactical friendly

Acornhoek City FC beat H.S. Academy in a friendly match, showcasing strong teamwork, attacking flair, and promising development.

HOEDSPRUIT – Acornhoek City Football Club produced a commanding performance to beat H.S. Academy Development 4-1 on November 15, at the Acornhoek Police Station sports field.

The friendly match showcased tactical intelligence and skill, giving fans plenty to cheer about.

H.S. Academy Development, coached by Sechaba Sibuyi, is based in Phelindaba, Brooklyn, near Acornhoek. Sibuyi, a qualified coach with years of experience, led his team in what was a challenging encounter against Acornhoek’s seniors.

Despite their best efforts, H.S. Academy could not withstand the tactical discipline and attacking efficiency of Majita Ya Style, as Acornhoek’s senior team is popularly known.

Sipho Dzimba, Acornhoek’s head coach, described the match as the team’s first real test of the season.

“It was truly a highly tactical game. Our team plays a possession-based style, while H.S. Academy relies on route one football. That presented a real challenge, and we had to deploy two defensive midfielders to contain their attacks,” Dzimba said.

The day also featured exciting fixtures for the junior teams. Acornhoek City’s u/13s and u/15s faced H.S. Academy’s junior squads in dress rehearsal matches.

The u/13s narrowly lost 2-1, while the u/15s were beaten 4-1. Despite these early setbacks, the senior team showed resilience and cohesion, dominating the main match of the day.

The victory not only boosts Acornhoek City’s confidence but also demonstrates the club’s commitment to developing football at all levels, from juniors to seniors.

Fans left the field impressed by the team’s tactical awareness, teamwork, and attacking flair.
