Bebs FC starts strong in Castle League

Bebs FC open their Castle League campaign with back-to-back wins, boosted by new ownership and renewed ambition for ABC Motsepe promotion.

LIMPOPO – Bebs FC from Ndengeza village in Giyani have opened their Castle League campaign with convincing intent, following up their 4-1 season-opening victory with a 3-1 win over Vafana va Golden City FC at Siyandhani village on Saturday.

The result secures their second straight win and strengthens their position as early contenders in the league. From the first whistle, Bebs FC looked composed and purposeful, maintaining control in midfield and applying sustained pressure to the home side.

Judging by their performance, the score could have been even higher had they capitalised on all their chances. In the first half, their finishing was poor, resulting in several wasted scoring opportunities. Luckily for them, they fixed that problem by the time they returned for the second half.

New owner brings structure and fresh vision

Meanwhile, much of the shift in momentum is credited to the club’s new ownership under Joseph Ngomani, whose arrival has brought structural changes and a new approach to recruitment.

Ngomani says he prioritises talent over locality, widening his search beyond a single village to assemble a more competitive squad.

“Since taking over, I have changed the way we find players,” Ngomani said. “I don’t just use players from one village. I go around the surrounding villages looking for good players. This is why you see an improvement in the team’s performance.”

Ngomani explained that his takeover was not a purchase of status but rather a continuation of a project that risked collapsing.

The former owner, overwhelmed by growing costs, approached him and asked him to take over to ensure the team did not fold. “The previous owner threw in the towel, saying he could no longer afford to run the club. I agreed mainly because I love football, and we could not just drop these kids and deny them an opportunity to continue their football,” he said.

Promotion to ABC Motsepe League the main goal

With the team now under his stewardship, Ngomani has set clear goals for the season. His primary target is to finish at the top of the log and secure promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.

“We want nothing less than that. Anything less is not acceptable,” he said.

Meanwhile, the team’s confidence has grown noticeably.

With two strong results behind them, Bebs FC are beginning to build the momentum they need for a serious promotion push, and their early form indicates they are not slowing down anytime soon.

Opponents still adapting

As for their opponents, Vafana va Golden City FC are newcomers to the Castle League after securing promotion last season.

Though little is known about the team, their mixed start of winning their first match but losing their second to Bebs FC suggests they are still finding their feet. With time, they might turn out to be a force to be reckoned with.
