Ruben takes first place

Ruben le Roux, a grade 8 learner from Stanford Lake College, participated in showjumping events at the Nissan Easter Festival 2019, held at Kyalami Equestrian Park the past Easter weekend.

He participated in 1m showjumping classes on his 10 year old thoroughbred, Our Mattox, and 1.1m showjumping classes on Ti Quinta, his 9 yr old Warmblood.

The Easter Festival is a graded national event, and not a provincial school’s league show.
Ruben rides as a Junior rider, competing against all riders from 13 to 18 years of age.

It was Ruben and Ti Quinta’s first 1.1m show. They had 3 out of 4 clear rounds, in huge classes of 53 riders.

They placed 11th and 15th in two of the classes.

“We are very proud, and expect great things for this rider-horse-combination yet to come.

Ruben and Our Mattox participated in the 1m showjumping classes.

These classes had 44 riders.

They won a first place in the speed class on Thursday – a stunning achievement! On Saturday, in the championship they finished in second place… only by 0,02 of a second! Hard work pays off!” exclaimed Adriana le Roux
