Limpopo Impala Cricket making moves
Limpopo Impala Cricket was named the Most Improved Affiliate in terms of their administration.
They have managed to move to position seven from 12th position and improved their standing in the Cricket South Africa Incentive Scorecard for 2019/2020 season. Chief executive officer, Tommy Phiri, expressed his excitement stating that it was a first for the union. “Cricket South Africa, has a system of evaluation called the activity based funding model (ABFM). “This is a tool used to measure every cent spent for programmes and also to determine the standards and quality of administration with the cricket fraternity. “However, LIC has never qualified for any of the recognition measures by this particular tool,” said Phiri. Since Phiri’s appointment in September last year, one of his key priorities was to get their office administration aligned in terms of finance and governance as well as other cricket programmes. “The journey was not easy as I had only six months to improve the areas of operations accordingly. “LIC is now identified as one of the best teams having moved from position 12 to 7 on its standings.” “This is a major improvement, we are proud and we shall continue to strive for the best,” he said. He added that their goal was to be in the top three best operating offices in the country. “I am happy to see that we have the potential and capacity to take our office to another level.” “I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and thank the board for their support throughout the season and putting their trust in me.” “I am also thankful to the media, all Limpopo district sports confederations, to all the clubs, schools, our parents and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the season,” he said. Phiri said his staff has worked hard and has contributed to this improvement. “I would like to thank my staff and all stakeholders.” “I know that it took a lot of courage from each and every one to really make sure that LIC improves its operation.” “Congratulations to everyone who contributed, let us continue to strive towards becoming the best,” he told Herald.
