Locals pedal for a cause

Unlimited Worship recently hosted a cycling cancer awareness campaign.

The event was well supported with community members participating in the initiative in great numbers. The cycling route started in Namakgale, passing through Benfarm, Lulekani, Phalaborwa town to the Kruger National Park gate and back to the starting point. The route took the cyclists through five communities where they distributed pamphlets, sponsored by Palaborwa Mining Company (PMC), with information on cancer.

They also engaged with locals on various topics including gender-based violence. Founder of Unlimited Worship, Solly Mokgalaka, told the Herald that the aim of the event was to share information on the different types of cancers. “I have witnessed a number of people losing their lives because they kept their cancer diagnosis a secret instead of seeking information on how to deal with it.”

Mokgalaka said that he was pleased by the participation of community members and the positive reception. “More people have shown an interest in joining us at our next event and we are working on hosting it annually,” he concluded.
