Phalaborwa fitness leader inspires transformations

Louis Mthembi, owner of Power House Gym, shares fitness tips, inspiring others to lead healthier, happier lives.

LIMPOPO – Fitness is more than a career for Louis Mthembi, the owner of Power House Gym in Namakgale.

It is a passion rooted in personal success and the desire to help others transform their lives.

He has been working as a personal trainer for over a decade, and his journey has been both rewarding and inspiring.

“I was inspired by the personal success I achieved through fitness and the research I did on its benefits. I discovered unexpected advantages, like helping with ADD and ADHD, reducing stress, and even improving bodily performance, things adults would be interested in,” Mthembi explained.

He stated that he has ten years of steady experience as a fitness and health specialist, and he has significantly improved his clients’ lives.

“There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone improve their health, fitness, and overall quality of life,” he said.

However, Mthembi acknowledged that beginners often make common mistakes when starting a workout routine, such as skipping warm-ups, doing the same exercises repeatedly, and giving up too soon.

To avoid these pitfalls, he emphasised the importance of proper preparation, variety in workouts, and staying consistent.
Mthembi provides straight forward but powerful advice for anyone trying to lead a healthy lifestyle: “Change your eating habits, limit smoking or quit altogether, reduce alcohol consumption, get enough sleep, and drink water regularly.”

The gym enthusiast encouraged caution and moderation for people living with chronic illnesses.

“Their workout routine should be geared toward gradually becoming healthy and fit. They should only do what is comfortable and aim for shorter workout sessions,” he advised.

Mthembi mentioned that his fitness journey was not without hurdles.

He encountered various challenges, including struggling to adjust his diet and expecting immediate results, as well as overworking and becoming disillusioned.

“I overcame these challenges by consulting a professional dietician and trainer. With the right guidance, I set realistic goals that helped me stay consistent and reasonable,” he said.

“As a fitness enthusiast and entrepreneur, I take pride in empowering others through my work at the Power House Gym. My passion for health and wellness continues to inspire my clients and community,” said Mthembi.

To those embarking on their fitness journey, Mthembi’s advice is clear: start slow, set realistic goals, and stay committed.

With the right mindset and guidance, anyone can achieve a healthier and happier life.
