LIMPOPO – The Nkowankowa Hub girls cricket team secured a bronze medal after finishing third at the Switch Schools SA20 competition.

They claimed third place with a seven-wicket victory over HTS Drostdy in the third and fourth place playoff match.
During the group stages, the team was scheduled to play three matches, but one was canceled due to rain.
Tshepiso Motswi shines as player of the tournament
The tournament also highlighted individual talent, with Tshepiso Motswi named both player and best batsman of the tournament.
The Gr 10 learner from Mawawa High School in Nkambako scored 58 runs and took six wickets throughout the competition.
Coach Blessing Mabunda told the Herald he is proud of the team’s performance.
“I’m super happy with third place, and having a player recognised as the best batsman and player of the tournament is huge for us.
“The team grows every day; they are self-motivated and keen to improve.
“They don’t let their background stop them from achieving their dreams, and this shows we are doing something right,” he said.
Nurturing future cricket stars
Mabunda also said that the hub is expanding its impact, with another player, Shelfah Mkansi, set to represent South Africa in Nigeria soon.
The Nkowankowa Hub draws talented players from villages and townships across the Tzaneen area, nurturing the next generation of cricket stars.
