Plasie young guns on form
Saturday, September 9 was a day of mixed emotions for Plasie cricketers.
On Saturday, September 9 the Merensky Cricket Oval came alive when the Plasie U/15 team played against Hoërskool Piet Potgieter from Mokopane.
The Plasie youngsters took to the bat, setting a super score of 300 runs after their 50 overs, conceding 8 wickets. Three Plasie batsmen, Mubin Patel (59 runs), Gerhardus Fourie (54 runs) and CJ van der Merwe (41 runs) kept the scoreboard ticking. Ruan van der Schyff excelled with bowling figures of 6 wickets in 8 overs for only 18 runs. Piet Potgieter were all out for 91 runs resulting in a sweet Plasie victory of 209 runs.
The first team traveled to Mokopane where their opponents set a target of 216 runs. Viraj Devdhara took 3 wickets in 10 overs, conceding only 22 runs. The seniors bowed out with only 136 runs on the scoreboard, of which Eduard O’Reilly contributed 29.
