There is much to enjoy in Mopani this winter holidays

The school holidays bring a delightful break from routine for children but it can also be a challenging period for parents.

Balancing childcare, personal commitments, and work can become overwhelming. However, with a bit of smart strategising, you can not only survive but also enjoy this time with your children. The Herald looked for some local activities that parents and children can enjoy. • Hiking is a great way to spend a day in Limpopo with its great winter weather.

The popular Louis Changuion Trail will do just that. It starts and ends in the village of Haenertsburg and meanders through the Haenertsburg Grassland Nature Reserve. The trail is well marked and features both, a shorter walk of about 5km as well as a 10km hike. Apart from beautiful grasslands, both routes also take you through patches of indigenous forest.

“This holiday I will spend quality time with my family. I always come home late from school and then there is lot of work to do, so I never get enough time to chill with my family.”

The trail is free of charge. Call 084 055 0001 for more information. • Another fun short hike is at Schultz Farm along the R71 in Magoebaskloof. Trails vary between 2km and 5km, are easy to navigate and a great quick outing during the day. Returning from one of the hikes you can enjoy a coff ee and a bite to eat at Krabbefontein Café on the farm. Call 076 968 0483 for more information.
