Belfast detective to be buried this weekend

Well-known Belfast Detective Sergeant Bheki Sindane will be laid to rest this Saturday.

He was found dead in his home with his service pistol next to him at around 03:00 on April 21.

According to Mpumalanga Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli, Detective Sindane was discovered by other SAPS members who were investigating an accident involving a state vehicle.

The police were dispatched to the accident scene involving a police vehicle, and while attending the scene, they discovered that the driver was not inside the car.

They then went to Detective Sindane’s home a few kilometers from the accident scene.

Upon their arrival, they were shocked to find him lying on the ground with a bullet wound in the upper body, and a firearm next to him.

Paramedics were called to the scene and certified the detective dead.

The Belfast Police have opened an investigation and are still looking into the matter.

• A memorial service for Detective Sindane will be held today (Thursday) at Siyathuthuka Community Hall.

His death has come as a shock to the community at large.

He leaves behind his children.

His funeral will be held in Belfast on Saturday.
