The first coats of paint went onto the walls on June 26 as renovations began at the Rainbow Room at Kidz Coach.
The dedicated support class for children on the autism spectrum was inspired by Louis “Lewies” Groenewald, a Middelburg boy with Level 3 autism.
His mom, Anri Groenewald, started the For My Boy campaign in April to raise awareness about autism and share the realities of raising a child on the autism spectrum.
Since then, support from the community, foundations and specialist doctors has helped turn the Rainbow Room into a reality.

Once complete, the classroom will be a calm, sensory-friendly space where kids can learn and get the support they need.
The Rainbow Room team thanked everyone who has donated, volunteered or supported the project.
“This dream is becoming a reality because of an amazing community standing behind it,” Anri said.
If all goes according to plan, the Rainbow Room will open its doors on July 21.
Lewies’ Rainbow Room is a place of hope, inspired by one little boy and a community that chose to make a difference.
Supporting every colour on the spectrum.
