Three in court for assault, kidnapping

Two men and a woman from Avalon appeared in court on charges of house break-ins, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property, kidnapping and theft.

It is alleged that Lesiba Chris Matlou (40), Nelisiwe Johanna Mahlangu (18) and Jimmy Jiane (39) broke into the house of Jimmy Thukwane on 3 May.

They allegedly hit him with knobkierries and other objects and damaged his door, bed, wardrobe and fridge. Thereafter the trio allegedly kidnapped Thukwane by taking him to Avalon by force.

They also allegedly stole his cellphone and tools.

Matlou and Jiane were released on R500 bail whilst Mahlangu had to pay R300 to be released from custody. The matter has been postponed for a final time to today (Friday).
