Another scam at ABSA?

ABSA Bank is accused of deducting amounts from various accounts without authorisation and in the process causing panic among account holders who are helpless and cannot do anything about it.

In the past month at least two complainants stated that when swiping their bank card to pay for items, an amount that is double the original amount is deducted.

Complainants contacted ABSA in this regard who admitted it was a mistake and promised to return the money. But almost three weeks later and complainants are still waiting for money to be returned to them.

Although the amounts are of R100 and R250 respectively, it is unclear as to how many victims there are in total as the amounts could add up to hundreds of thousands if there are much more complainants.
