Three killed near Botshabelo

A horrific car crash on the Groblersdal road on Saturday night claimed the lives of three people, two men and a woman, who are yet to be identified by their next of kin.

The grey Renault Sedan was travelling from Loskop Dam towards Middelburg when just five kilometres outside town, near Botshabelo, the driver lost control and plunged into a bridge rail at the Keerom Spruit.

All three occupants of the vehicle were killed instantly. One man was flung out of the vehicle together with the vehicle’s engine.

The car eventually came to a standstill on its roof just a few metres from the spruit. The bodies of another man and woman both ended up on the front passenger seat.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The reason behind the driver losing control is still under investigation. According to officials on Monday morning, all three deceased are yet to be identified.
