‘Dealer’ busted in Aerorand

Aerorand residents looked on in shock as a Nigerian national, suspected of dealing drugs, aggressively resisted being searched and later arrest during a drug bust on the corner of Duiwelspiek- and Chapmanspeak Street on Friday.

Two police members, who cannot be named due to the sensitivity of their work, noticed a group of men acting suspiciously whilst they were on patrol in the Aerorand area.

One of the men were seen throwing something away when he saw the unmarked police vehicle.

A bag of Cat (methcathinone) was found under a car nearby when officers searched the area.

The man took of his shirt and yelled “Where is your search warrant?” whilst slapping himself on the chest and also pushing away an officer attempting to pat him down.

Seemingly fearless of the police, the man proceeded to swear at and slap a phone out of one of the officers’ hands.

Residents in the area say that shady things have been happening at the house.

It is a well known fact amongst them that drug dealers operate from there.

Flashy cars are frequently seen entering and leaving the premises.

The owner of the house, who was brought to the scene to open a locked room allegedly belonging to the suspect’s girlfriend, refused to do so without her present.

She was very hostile towards Middelburg Observer journalists on the scene.

The man, only known as John, was transported in a police van, to the Middelburg Police station.

His identity, the charges against him, whether he was released on bail and details about his court appearance could not be obtained from police at the time of going to press.
