Update: No funeral for family

The family of some of the deceased that died in a horror accident on the N4 early in September, can still not put their loved ones to rest.

Six people perished, five of them when their wreck caught fire after an accident near the Middelburg dam a month ago.

The occupants of the Nissan Juke have since been identified as Bernine Booysen and Ilse Jansen van Vuuren. The four occupants of the other car involved, a Toyota Corolla, have not yet been positively identified.

The families of some of the people suspected to have been in the car, have requested for DNA tests to be done.

A family member, who does not want to be identified yet, said that they have requested for DNA to be done because there was no way they could positively identify who exactly was in the car.

With the results not known, they have yet to hold a funeral and properly mourn their loss.

“We are so sick and tired. Every time we phone to hear about the results they say tomorrow, or next Monday. It has been carrying on like this for exactly a month now.”
