A woman died and two people were seriously injured when a motorbike collided with pedestrians in SADC Street on Saturday afternoon.

A couple was allegedly hit by a bike whilst crossing the street. The circumstances surrounding the accident is not clear at this stage.
Paramedics fought for the life of Mapule Serepo (23) who lay on the tar with serious head injuries. She was declared dead minutes later whilst a teary eyed Joanne Petzer, her friend and employer, looked on.
“I arrived on the scene about 15 minutes after it happened. She had no pulse,” said Ms Petzer. Two uninjured bikers on the scene had to be rushed to safety after upset onlookers threatened them with violence when Ms Serepo was declared dead.
Close to the body of Ms Serepo laid that of a man who presumably rode on the bike involved in the accident. The man, just known as “Reaper” Carr, sustained head injuries and fractures. He together with Solomon (surname unkown), Ms Serepo’s boyfriend, who sustained a nasty leg wound, were taken to the Middelburg Hospital. Mr Carr was later transferred to the Life Midmed Hospital.
A family member of Mr Carr, did not want to disclose any information about him other than that he is recovering well. She refused to confirm his real name and said that it is okay to call him by his nickname “Reaper”.
Solomon’s condition was not known at the time of going to press. It was said that he had to be sedated after being told of Mapule’s passing.
• Mapule was a popular face at the quaint La Pomme Vert restaurant in Fountain Square. She was described as a soft spoken and well mannered girl who excelled in everything she took on.
“I am a perfectionist and Mapule was probably the only girl on my staff who always did everything perfect. She did not deserve to die the way she did. We will remember her for her bright smile” said Ms Petzer.
The 23 year-old was the sole bread winner in her family. She lived with her mother, brother (16) and sister (12) after her father passed away in 1993.
The La Pomme Vert team came together on Sunday and decided to try and raise funds for the family. They request people who want to help or donate anything from clothes to food to bring it to their monthly Pop-up Food Shop which will be hosted this Saturday.
• The Pop-up Food Shop, on Saturday, 11 October, will start from 08:00 to 14:00. Freshly baked goods, bottled delicacies and cupcakes for Mapule will be sold on the day. • Mr Carr, together with two of his friends, were seen at the October Fest earlier on the day of the accident where he made rude remarks of a sexual nature to a journalist.
