(Warning: Not for sensitive ears!) – Video: NDTA blocks N11

Taxi's of the Nasareth District Taxi Association (NDTA) blocked the N11 road on Thursday morning as part of a peaceful protest to get the Municipality to intervene in the Taxi unrest currently taking place in the area.

The protest got ugly when the police fired tear gas and rubber bullets.

The blockade came after the association were allegedly told by the Municipality that Mhluzi Taxis were to use their routes to pick up commuters from Rockdale, Nasaret, Hlalamnandi and Eastdene.

A car was damaged and a protester injured by the rubber bullets.

The acting Municipal Manager, Mr Mandla Mnguni and Mrs Pamela Nkosi of Community Services, met with the angry crowd.

A resolution was not reached by the time of print.
