Mapule and her boyfriend, Samson Kgwedi, were hit by a motorcycle whilst crossing the street.

She was declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the motorbike, Paul “Reaper” Carr, was taken to hospital with head and neck injuries.

Bystanders on the scene said that two motorbikes were racing down the one-way whilst the motorbike riders said that they were driving slowly and behind each other and that Mapule and her boyfriend simply walked into the road right in front of them.

Carr was spotted at an October Fest event less than an hour before the accident happened. No blood tests were done to determine the alcohol levels of the motorbike driver and police failed to take down witness statements.

If no witnesses come forward, Mapule Sereto’s death will become just another inquest ledger.
