Eight die in weekend road carnage

It was another bloody weekend on Middelburg's roads, with eight confirmed deaths in vehicle collisions.

• Six men died on their way back to town, following Lobola negotiations on a farm out on the Stoffberg road.

The men, who still needs to be identified by their next of kin, were travelling in a Nissan LDV. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.

Emergency services found five deceased males on the scene. A sixth man was later found by a farmer on his land. The man had also succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.

• On Sunday, one person died in a T-bone collision close to Alzu Petroport on the N4. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined by police.

• Fire and rescue services also told the Middelburg Observer that two people passed away on the Groblersdal road, shortly after the N4 collision around 15:00 on Sunday. Only one vehicle was involved in the accident.
