Tafelkop family appeals for help to find missing 13-year-old girl

Motetema police investigate as relatives spend sleepless nights hoping for the safe return of a young learner.

The Makuwe family from Mgababa section in Tafelkop is appealing to the public for help in locating 13-year-old Tiisetso Makuwe, also known as ‘Momo’, who has been missing since October 2.

Her sister, Lerato Makuwe (28), said their mother, Mariah Makuwe (47), realised Tiisetso was missing when she returned from work at about 23:00 that evening.

According to Lerato, their mother last saw Tiisetso when she left for work at about 08:00 that morning. Members of the community reportedly saw her in the area at about 14:00, while some of her friends said they had seen her again the following day, October 3.

“We tried to look for her without success. We reported her missing at Motetema Police Station,” Lerato said.

Family fears for teenager’s safety

“My mother is worried about her. The entire family is having sleepless nights. It is really hard for us to sleep without knowing where she is, whether she is safe and if she is eating,” she said.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that a missing person case had been opened at Motetema Police Station. He appealed to the public to assist in locating the teenager, who is a Grade Seven learner at the local Moilano Matsepe Primary School.

Police said the family does not know what clothes Tiisetso was wearing when she disappeared.
