(Warning Graphic Content) – Bedsore patient very ill
The “Slaughterhouse” (Middelburg Provincial Hospital) has another victim.
Mr Johannes Masango’s family discovered a massive bedsore on his buttocks.
He was admitted to the hospital on 11 July because he could not walk. His sister, Francina, said this morning that a scan, which was done at the Witbank Hospital on Monday, revealed that he has a growth on his spinal cord, which might be cancerous.
She mentioned that the doctors could not operate on him, due to the bedsore and a lung infection. He must go back to the hospital on 19 September. They hope by that time the infection and the bedsore will be better.
According to Francina the staff’s attitude has changed drastically after an article in the Middelburg Observer newspaper and “that her brother also smells better”. The bedsore had a bad smell when they discovered it last week.
• The matter was brought to the attention of the CEO of the Middelburg Hospital, Mr Pat Mazibuko, as well as the Health Department.
