Homeless man found dead

A homeless man was discovered dead on Monday afternoon in Mountain View.

The man, believed to be in his forties and mentally ill, had made the veld between the former Saverite Supermarket building and Mountain View Bottle Store his home.

On Monday afternoon children who were playing on the hill discovered the body and alerted people at the nearby car wash.

Police were called to secure the scene and the already decomposing body was taken to the Forensic Pathology Department at the Middelburg District Hospital. It is estimated that the man died over a week ago and a post-mortem will be conducted on Thursday.

He was found wearing navy blue tracksuit pants and a grey jacket with red and blue stripes on the wrists and collar.

Anyone who might know the identity of the man must contact the Mhluzi Police on 013 242 1021 or visit the Forensic Pathology Department located at the Middelburg District Hospital.
