Dennesig water pipe repairs stall after 8-hour excavation

Equipment delays and dry taps prompt urgent calls for the mayor to intervene after a burst pipe leaves residents without water for hours.

Large parts of Dennesig have been without water since 06:00 today, October 16, with no end in sight.

It took municipal workers eight hours to excavate a section of Verkenner Street to access a burst pipe. A replacement pipe is reportedly required, but it is unclear how much longer the repair will take.

According to one of the workers, it could take anywhere from one to three hours before water supply is restored. Currently, only one worker remains on-site, while the others have gone to the depot to fetch the pipe.

Councillor urges mayor to intervene

Cllr Johann Dyason, who was reportedly on site, remarked that the current system is clearly flawed and has sent a message to the mayor urging him to intervene.

“All the necessary equipment should have been on-site when they began the work,” Dyason said.
