Father and son allegedly caught in possession of rhino horn
A father and son who are accused of being in possession of rhino horn, have appeared in the Belfast Magistrate Court this week.
Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, provincial spokesperson for the Hawks, says that they have taken over the investigation.
Alberto Nharreluga (46) and his son Ernesto Nharreluga (26) were pulled over on the N4 by members of the Middelburg Flying Squad on Saturday 20 April.
They were travelling towards Middelburg and was stopped between Wonderfontein and the Alzu Petroport.
Capt. Sekgotodi said that rhino horn as well as a fire arm and ammunition were found in their possession.
Father and son will have to stay behind bars until their bail application next week Tuesday.
• Two men and a woman were also arrested for possession of rhino horn in Komatipoort over the Easter weekend.
