Fifth victim claimed after weekend’s accident on N11 near Doornkop
A horrific accident near Doornkop, which saw four people perish on the scene, has claimed its fifth victim after another woman passed away in hospital.

Moeti Mmusi of the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liason said that the accident occurred on Saturday 27 April when a double cab bakkie and a sedan collided head on at around 18:00. A second sedan crashed into the two vehicles thereafter.

Three women and a man were declared dead on the scene whilst five people were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The drivers of both vehicles were among those seriously injured.
The man who passed away on the scene had to be cut out of the wreckage by emergency personnel. A female patient passed away due to her injuries on Monday morning, raising the death toll to five.

The names of the deceased have not been made public yet.
