VIDEO: Raw sewage flows into the Klein Olifants River
A clogged sewer line has been leaking raw sewage into the Klein Olifants River for months now.
After several residents have complained about the bad odour hanging over the town, DA Councillor Johann Dyason has opened up an investigation.
Dyason contacted the Department of Water and Sanitation and they took water samples from the river, he is currently waiting for the results.
In the meantime, the councillor has reported blocked manholes to the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.

The municipality has been battling to unclog the responsible sewer line that runs along the marsh behind the Middelburg SPCA.
www.mobserver.co.za is currently investigating businesses in the industrial area that flush waste water into the sewer lines.
It will be possible to determine which pollutants are dominant in the river once the reports are received from the water samples
